COLLEGE PREP/TUTORING
I recently worked for the director of UCLA Undergraduate Admissions
for almost three years during the transition of UC’s comprehensive application
review policy. My job included reading and evaluating undergraduate
admissions applications, writing special correspondence that was not
covered by our usual form letters, and assisting the director on a variety
special projects. I also counseled students whose admission status was
under question and those who chose to appeal our decisions.
In addition, my qualifications as a college counselor include experience
as:
- A High School English teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District
- A private tutor and adult literacy tutor
- A UCLA Alumna
- An 18-year UCLA employee (with a combined 25 years experience on
university campuses that includes interfacing with the executive administrators)
The combination of these experiences, particularly at UCLA, places
me in a unique position to be able to offer your son or daughter expert
college admissions counseling. I can provide a structured roadmap
to help your child be more competitive for university admissions and
“read between the lines” of the college admissions evaluation process.
I work with students and/or their parents individually or in groups.
And remember, with the new writing portion of the SAT exam, it’s never
too early to help your child improve their writing skills.
My services include:
- One-on-One writing tutoring
- One-on-One or group college prep counseling
- Parent consultations
- College Admission Seminars
- Long-term college coaching
